Headteacher's Declaration

Once the last test for the testing cycle has been administered, the headteacher must sign confirming that all guidelines were followed. The declaration for 2016 must be signed and submitted to the relevant consortium by the 16 June 2016.

National Reading & Numeracy Tests Diagnostic Support Tools

The diagnostic support tools for the national reading and numeracy tests are now available. These tools will support teachers’ analysis of the national test results for their pupils and will map performance to the National Literacy and Numeracy Framework.

Hwb and Office 365

Schools in Wales no longer need their own Microsoft Office tenancies, as the Office 365 cloud-based toolkit is freely available when you log in to Hwb. The toolkit includes e-mail, calendar, contacts, document storage and Office Online, which allows you to create and edit documents in Word, PowerPoint, OneNote and Excel through your web browser.

We are keen to hear the views of learners in Wales who have completed, or are working towards, the new Post 16 Foundation and Post 16 National Welsh Baccalaureate Qualifications which were introduced in September 2015. GCSE science qualifications are changing

From September 2016, science qualifications studied by 14 to 16 year-old students in Wales are changing. We want to help students, teachers, school leaders, parents and others to better understand and prepare for these changes. To achieve this we have worked with WJEC, the Welsh Government, Estyn and Regional Consortia to provide a single, authoritative source of information on what the changes are and what effect they could have. Have your say about the summer exams 2016

Many new AS qualifications, specifically designed for Wales, are being examined for the first time this summer, as well as other existing GCSE and A level qualifications. We are asking learners, teachers, lecturers and anyone with an interest in the summer exams to fill in a short survey. The questionnaire should only take around five minutes to complete. Consultation on the Draft Restricted Priority Qualifications Policy

This consultation is an opportunity for awarding bodies and other interested parties to provide feedback to Qualifications Wales on the policy for the restriction of priority qualifications. The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance to awarding bodies and other interested parties of the rationale for the restriction of priority qualifications and the process for the restriction of qualifications. ‘Enabling Children’s and Young People’s Right’ - Training on United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.  Welsh Government supported half day training session.

Into Film’s Training Offer

The bilingual programme offers a range of strategies that support teachers and group leaders in achieving effective, memorable learning through and about film. Into Film specialise in training teachers in raising literacy attainment through film and film as a tool for curricular attainment via filmmaking and animation activities. International Learning Opportunities (ILO) – applications now open!

The ILO programme provides a unique opportunity to spend eight weeks in sub-Saharan Africa working on development projects that are designed to enhance your leadership skills.

The application process has been revised to ensure it meets the needs of partners in Lesotho and Uganda. A number of challenging, leadership roles are being advertised.

The recruitment timetable is set out below.
