Numerical Reasoning: Supported Marking Service

Have you booked your place on the supported marking events? It is strongly recommended that all schools with learners in years 7 to 9 take up this valuable opportunity.

Headteacher's Declaration

Once the last test for the testing cycle has been administered, the headteacher must sign confirming that all guidelines were followed. The declaration for 2016 must be signed and submitted to the relevant consortium by the 16 June 2016.

National Reading & Numeracy Tests Diagnostic Support Tools

The diagnostic support tools for the national reading and numeracy tests will be available from the 11 May. These tools will support teachers’ analysis of the national test results for their pupils and will map performance to the National Literacy and Numeracy Framework.

Secondary School Grant funding for First World War commemorations

All secondary schools in Wales have until March 2018 to apply for a £1000 grant which can be used to develop projects which commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the conflict and should encourage debate and discussion.        Schools can request an application form from FWWCommemorationGrant@wales.gsi.gov.uk or download them here

Model Rocket Car Competition

Get students excited about science, the BLOODHOUND Project is using a 1,000mph world land speed record attempt to inspire the next generation.  BBC micro:bit Model Rocket Car competition is open to Secondary school pupils aged 11-16, competition closes on 20 June 2016.

Witness a rare astronomical event

Between 12:00 and 18:00 on Monday 9 May members of the public and school students are invited to view a transit of Mercury across the Sun, if you’re near the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff. There will also be astronomy themed activities and a live projection inside the museum.
