Supported Marking Service

Invitations have been sent to schools with full details of the events. It is strongly recommended that all schools with learners in years 7 to 9 take up this valuable opportunity to attend.

Written Statement – Minister for Education and Skills

The Minister has provided an update following consultation on the draft Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Bill.  A summary of responses will be published following the Assembly Elections.  The responses are already being used to inform work to refine the Bill and further develop the ALN Code, implementation plan and wider comprehensive package of reforms.

New! Creative Learning Zone

The new Creative Learning Zone launched on 17 March on Hwb. This new zone aims to support teachers, schools and arts organisations in delivering a collaborative approach to arts, culture and creativity in education. Lead and Emerging Practitioner School Project - Tranche 2 impact evaluation report

National Foundation for Educational Research (NfER) have produced an impact evaluation on Tranche 2 of the Lead and Emerging Practitioner School Project.  The evaluation found that the Pathfinder model of organising and facilitating national school-to-school improvement had been effective in supporting and accelerating improvement in both the Lead and Emerging schools.  Case studies on 7 partnerships will follow soon.

New Infographic - Food and physical activity

Chief Medical Officer for Wales Dr Ruth Hussey has launched a new infographic which summarises the existing guidelines from the four UK Chief Medical Officers’ to encourage children and young people to become more physically active. The infographic promotes the benefits of physical activity to support the physical activity guidelines in schools.

Living Streets’ Walk to School Week

Join thousands of children, parents and teachers in Walk to School Week (16–20 May) encouraging more children to walk to school.  Living Streets mascot, Strider, will be travelling around schools in Wales to celebrate the week. Walk to School Week 2016 is all about promoting the mental health benefits of walking to school, from better concentration to being more alert.  To get involved or to invite Strider to your Walk to School event please contact wales@livingstreets.org.uk

Campau Cosmig 2 App

Campau Cosmig 2 has been developed in order for Welsh first-language KS2 children to have fun whilst practising their Welsh. Although designed for those who speak Welsh as their first language it can offer a challenge to those who are learning the language.  This app is now available on Hwb!

Challenging Religion Education Issues – Issue 9

The latest edition of the online journal for A-level Religious Studies students and teachers. The journal includes articles written by leading scholars and practitioners in the field.  The magazine is available free for charge on Hwb.

Hospitality and Catering

Interactive resources for the KS4 Hospitality and Catering course. Units include catering terminology; cooking methods; catering equipment; special diets; sequence of service and hospitality and establishments.  These resources are available now on Hwb.

Complete Pack: Ned y Morwr

A pack of five Welsh-language learn-to-read books for the Foundation Phase in the Ned y Morwr series with 20 laminated activity cards. There are 4 additional stories with language and cross-curricular activities.  This pack is available now on gwales.com

Translating Modern Languages Pack

A Welsh language resource for A level students who are studying French, Spanish and German.  There are 40 units available in each language with each containing a  translation piece and exercises.  This pack is now available on Hwb.
