Bin - waste and recycling collections: Waste collections are continuing as normal at this time. We do have contingency plans in place and will communicate those if/when those plans kick-in.
Bins - garden waste collections: We have suspended our garden waste service.
Bins - missed bins: We are unable to return for any missed bins. You can place any side waste out in bags next to your bin ready for your next scheduled collection. Additional waste placed next to your Green recycling bin must be in clear bags, carrier bags, white bags or cardboard boxes only, as we will not accept black sacks.
Bulky household waste: We will no longer be offering a bulky household waste collection service. This is to minimise non-essential contact and to free up resources to ensure waste (black bin) and recycling (green and brown bin) collections can run as normal.
Replacement bins: We will no longer be able to deliver replacement or additional bins. We will still be delivering bins to new build properties.
Garden waste weekend skip service: We have suspended the garden waste weekend skip service until further notice.
All recycling centres across Essex, including the Thaxted Road site in Saffron Walden, are closed until further notice. This is essential to encourage people to stay at home and limit the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19).
During this time residents are asked to act responsibly and not place items such as DIY waste or recycling into their kerbside general rubbish collection. This will take up space in the collection vehicles needed for general household rubbish.
If you have garden waste to get rid of, you can always try home composting – it’s a great alternative and there are many ways to get started.
If you use a private company or contractor to dispose of your waste, please keep a safe distance apart from other people and ensure they will dispose of your waste responsibly.

Anyone who asked to self-isolate, either as a precaution or because they are confirmed to have coronavirus, should follow the Love Essex advice to get rid of their household waste to ensure the virus is not spread via personal waste.
All of the Love Essex compost workshops, including the one in Uttlesford which was scheduled for 29 April, have been postponed.
The team is aiming to reschedule the workshops later in the year. We will keep you up to date with new dates.

Coronavirus (Covid-19): what you need to do
The single most important action we can all take, in fighting coronavirus, is to stay at home in order to protect the NHS and save lives.
- Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (where this absolutely cannot be done from home)
- Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people
- Wash your hands as soon as you get home
