Tower Hamlets Women's Resource Centre
The Women’s Resource Centre is one of the Mayor’s Priority Projects and directly addresses an outcome for the Council’s Strategic Plan: Priority 6 - Empowering Communities and Fighting Crime. This project aims to provide a dedicated resource centre to enable opportunities for the development and well-being of Bangladeshi and other multi-ethnic marginalised women. The centre will have a particular consideration for cultural nuances that create a barrier to participation in learning and development.
The centre aims to provide the following core services:
- A centre for Learning and Development with accredited Lifelong Learning and Skills for Life courses to be delivered with childcare provisions on site.
- Employment/Entrepreneurial/up-skilling and progression route advice and training
- A centre for Health and Well-being
- Advice centre (benefits, Violence Against Women & Girls services, debt, legal, housing, and other key issues)
- A multi-generation safe space for women and girls with regular workshops and networking opportunity
- A women-only event space for networking and celebration

Greater London Authority Funding
Skills for Londoners Community Outreach programme
The Skills for Londoners Community Outreach Programme 2024-25 will directly fund community organisations to raise awareness of London’s adult skills opportunities, increase participation in adult learning skills provision, and help to build sustainable links between providers, community groups and the Londoners they work with.
The program acknowledges that those who need skills development the most often face the most difficulty accessing it. It will have a key focus on engaging Londoners who may face barriers to engaging with adult education opportunities, delivering engagement activities within the community, and establishing relationships with local adult education providers.
Grants of up to £35,000 are available to community organisations who can work with local communities and help signpost Londoners to adult education opportunities.
The application deadline is 5:00 pm on 21st June 2024.
