Schools Sit Together
The Mindfulness in School Project are inviting teachers and students from primary and secondary schools all over the world, who have introduced mindfulness into their schools, to join the team for a mindful sit on Wednesday 7th October at 12pm.
Physical Health and Wellbeing Videos
Tower Hamlets is the top performing borough for The Daily Mile and so we would encourage all schools to carry on with this fantastic initiative. The Department for Education have put together a series of videos promoting physical health and wellbeing in schools. It is important to keep children and young people active, even during challenging times. There are also videos ranging from adapting physical activity to make it COVID secure, active travel, active learning, mental health and wellbeing through physical activity, encouraging girls to be active, and a few others.
Planning a mental health and wellbeing INSET day toolkit
An INSET day before the start of any term is a great opportunity for the whole school staff to come together to focus on mental health and wellbeing, ready for the term ahead. This toolkit from The Anna Freud Centre is designed to be a guided INSET day for schools to work through, focused on wellbeing.
School Garden Club
The Royal Horticultural Society provides ideas and activities to get children gardening. Content includes an interview with Astronaut Tim Peake and guests who discuss his 2016 rocket seed experiments on the International Space Station. Also, Lee Connelly, shares his top tips to get kids growing vegetables and shows families how to build a small but perfectly formed allotment from a washing bowl.
