The Healthy Lives Team supports schools, pupils and families with everything to do with health and wellbeing. We want to help you to live fitter, healthier and happier lives.

We are incredibly proud in Tower Hamlets to have supported schools to gain more Healthy Schools awards than any other borough in London. So please use this newsletter in whatever way suits you best to stay as fit and healthy as possible.

Kooth

Kooth online mental health and wellbeing service for 11-26 year olds

All young people in Tower Hamlets aged 11-25 can now access Kooth, a free online mental health & well-being service.

Young people can log onto Kooth until 10pm every single day of the year to speak to a fully-qualified counsellor about anything they wish. There are also self-help tools & activities, an online magazine and forums which are designed to support a young person’s well-being.

Covid posters

Free illustrated resources and Covid-19 posters

There is a selection of free illustrated resources from Nurse Betty books; who authored Dave the Dog is worried about coronavirus. The illustrated activities include colouring pages, sticker chart, hospital hunt, dot to dot, spot the difference and posters illustrating staying two meters apart and staying safe.

Nip in the Bud

Support for parents and teachers dealing with children worried about returning to school

The charity Nip in the Bud has produced a short film and fact sheet, with some important but easy to follow advice, to help parents and teachers deal with any potential feelings of apprehension and anxiety that children may experience when returning to school.

Sleep

Sleep lesson plans for Year 6, Key Stage 3 and 4

A good night’s sleep can work wonders for our physical and mental wellbeing. These new Public Health resources help pupils to explore the benefits of good quality sleep and learn strategies for better sleep.

The lesson has been designed alongside teachers and can be adapted for other year groups.
