 Start a career in social care
A new recruitment bus that looks to help people take their first steps into the social care sector, is touring Gwent this year.
Coinciding with World Social Work Day, the bus will set off on Tuesday 21 March, stopping outside Morrisons supermarket in Cwmbran, between the hours of 10am and 2pm.
Visitors to the bus will be able to speak with a number of social care employers, including Torfaen Council, to start their careers in care.

 Plans to improve customer services
Around 400 calls are made to Torfaen Council's contact centre every day and there are often telephone queues at busy times.
Many residents call for information or to request a service or report a problem which can also be done online via our website or the MyTorfaen app.
A draft strategy has now been developed to improve the council’s digital technology to encourage more residents to access our services online.

 Get ready for 20
It’s six months until most roads with a default 30mph speed limit in Wales are changing to 20mph.
These include roads where street lights are placed no more than 200 yards apart.
A Welsh Government report into eight pilot areas where the default speed limit has already been reduced to 20mph has been published. You can read the report here. For information about 20mph in Torfaen, visit our website.

 Sign Language Week
It's 20 years since British Sign Language was officially recognised as a language in the UK and it's used by an estimated 150,000 people.
This Sign Language Week, the British Deaf Association wants to promote the use of BSL.

 Energy bills support scheme
Households who have not yet received their £400 energy bill support may be eligible to apply via the Energy Bill Support Scheme Alternative Funding.
Between October 2022 and March 2023, the UK Government gave households who pay their gas and electricity bills a direct £66 reduction on their bills.
They are now offering financial support to residents who pay for their energy indirectly, for example via a landlord or care home provider.
The scheme is now open to all eligible households until 31 May 2023. Apply here
Cynllun cymorth biliau ynni
Efallai y gall cartrefi nad ydynt eto wedi derbyn eu cymorth biliau ynni gwerth £400 fod yn gymwys i wneud cais drwy Gyllid Amgen y Cynllun Cymorth Biliau Ynni.
Rhwng Hydref 2022 a Mawrth 2023, rhoddodd Llywodraeth y DU ostyngiad uniongyrchol o £66 oddi ar eu biliau nwy a thrydan i aelwydydd.
Maen nhw bellach yn cynnig cymorth ariannol i drigolion sy'n talu am eu hynni yn anuniongyrchol, er enghraifft drwy landlord neu ddarparwr cartref gofal.
