Half Term Fun | Hwyl Hanner Tymor

More than 750 children have taken part in a fun-filled week of play activities this half term.

Provided by Torfaen Play Service, children took part in lots of arts and crafts, games, sports, swimming and spooky Halloween activities.

Children who attended wellbeing camps at schools across the borough received a free packed lunch and snacks throughout the day, provided by Torfaen Catering.

Joanne Brown, from Garndiffaith, whose daughters Lily and Summer attended the Garnteg School wellbeing camp, said: “The camps have really benefited the whole family. My younger children can maintain an active social life and my eldest has gained valuable experience whilst volunteering with the scheme. Having lunch provided is a big help for everyone with the current cost of living.”

Around 90 playworkers and volunteers came together to run the provisions, with specialist play and respite sessions also delivered to more than 60 children with disabilities.

Torfaen Executive Member for Children, Families and Communities, said: “We are fortunate to have such a proactive and inclusive play service here in Torfaen.

"It’s a credit to the play service and Torfaen catering that participants were also provided with packed lunches, as I’m sure this was valued by families during this current cost of living crisis.”

Mae dros 750 o blant wedi cymryd rhan mewn wythnos llawn hwyl o weithgareddau chwarae yr hanner tymor hwn gyda Gwasanaeth Chwarae Torfaen.

Cymerodd y plant ran mewn llawer o gelf a chrefft, gemau chwaraeon, nofio, a gweithgareddau arswydus yn ystod Calan Gaeaf.

Derbyniodd y plant a fynychodd y gwersylloedd lles mewn chwech ysgol ledled y fwrdeistref,  becyn cinio a byrbrydau am ddim drwy gydol y dydd, a hynny gan adran arlwyo Torfaen.

Dywedodd Joanne Brown, o Garndiffaith, sy’n fam i Lily a Summer a fynychodd gwersyll lles Ysgol Garnteg: "Mae'r gwersylloedd wedi bod o fudd mawr i'r teulu oll - gall fy mhlant iau barhau i fwynhau bywyd cymdeithasol gweithgar ac mae'r hynaf wedi cael profiad gwerthfawr wrth wirfoddoli gyda'r cynllun. Mae cael cinio yn help mawr i bawb, o ystyried y costau byw ar hyn o bryd."

Fe wnaeth tua 90 o weithwyr chwarae a gwirfoddolwyr ddarparu gweithgareddau amrywiol ar draws yr holl ddarpariaethau, gyda sesiynau chwarae arbenigol a sesiynau seibiant hefyd yn cael eu cyflwyno i fwy na 60 o blant ag anableddau.
