Winter Fuel Support Scheme
This week the Welsh Government announced that the Winter Fuel Support Scheme payment will be increased from £100 to £200.
It's available to new applicants and retrospectively paid to those who have applied already.
Customers who have already applied for the payment initial £100 payment, do not need to re-apply. Only new applicants need apply.
The scheme is open to households where one member is in receipt of working age means-tested welfare benefits;
- Income Support, or
- Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, or
- Income Related Employment & Support Allowance, or
- Universal Credit, or
- Working Tax Credits.
The application period has also been extended until the 28 February 2022.

Have you received an enforcement letter or had contact from enforcement agents (Bailiffs)?
The Citizens Advice state that a letter should be received from bailiffs before they visit your home, to check if you are vulnerable because of coronavirus. They should also follow government guidance on social distancing and shouldn’t take property from your home.

Coronavirus Self isolation financial support
If you have been contacted by NHS Wales Test, Trace, protect service (TTP) and been told to self-isolate, you may be entitled to financial support.
The self isolation payment only applies to those who have tested positive, or those who are close contacts and are not fully vaccinated.

Free School Meal payments in Wales will be paid in every school holiday period up to and including the Easter break to Free School Meal recipients.
If you are already in receipt of Free School Meals payments and/or a clothing grant, you do not need to provide any further information to us.

 Torfaen Gateway - housing related floating support
A range of Torfaen Gateway support services is available to individuals living in Torfaen who have a housing related support need. Support can be provided to assist with various issues such as;
- Help to find suitable accommodation and setting up a tenancy
- Help with budgeting, accessing benefits and managing your money
- Support with accessing services
- Help with emotional support, relationships, managing mental and physical health
- Helping you to feel safe and secure in your home and community
- Support with accessing education, training, volunteering and employment
- Support with helping you to be healthy and active

Tenancy Hardship Grant
Have you, or anyone you know, fallen behind on rent due to the pandemic?
Welsh Government have changed the Tenancy Hardship Grant – if you have rent arrears for Covid-related reasons built up between March 2020 and December 2021 you could be eligible.
Torfaen Gateway Housing Support team is on hand to help eligible individuals and families, living in Torfaen, to claim the hardship grant.

Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP)
If you are struggling to pay your rent, you may be eligible to a Discretionary Housing Payment. DHP's are normally only awarded for a short period, for example 3 months.
If you're already receiving DHP, you should have recently been contacted to either renew your application or receive advise of any further extension.

Nest Scheme
The Welsh Government Nest scheme offers a range of free, impartial advice and, if you are eligible, a package of free home energy efficiency improvements such as a new boiler, central heating or insulation. This can lower your energy bills and benefit your health and wellbeing.

Pre-payment meters
If you are facing financial hardship or struggling to top up meters, you are advised to contact your energy supplier in the first instance to discuss your personal circumstances.
Some energy suppliers offer the Warm Home Discount, which is worth £140. To see if you are eligible for this support, please contact your energy supplier for details or visit the Gov website for more information.

Council Tax Reduction
If you would like to apply for Council Tax Reduction, you can complete an online application. Alternatively, you can contact the New Claims Team by emailing benefitapplication@torfaen.gov.uk or call 0300 456 3559

House repossessions/eviction
Torfaen Housing Solutions Team provide housing advice around tenancy issues and focuses on prevention of homelessness wherever possible.
They also offer specific advice in relation to debt, money management and income maximisation through their Financial Inclusion Service.
The Financial Inclusion Service is an impartial, free, confidential service that can negotiate with your landlord on your behalf, provide court advocacy, liaise with your creditors and offer assistance in relation to other financial difficulties you may be experiencing.

Help gyda chostau gofal plant i rieni plant 3 a 4 oed sy’n gweithio
Ydych chi wedi gwirio a ydych yn gymwys ar gyfer y Cynnig Gofal Plant i Gymru?
Gallai rhieni cymwys hawlio hyd at 30 awr o addysg gynnar (rhwng 10-12.5 awr) a gofal plant cofleidiol wedi ei ariannu (rhwng 17.5-20 awr), am hyd at 48 wythnos y flwyddyn.

Bydd PaCE yn eich helpu i gael hyd i, ac ariannu atebion er mwyn goresgyn rhwystrau gofal plant i alluogi rhieni/gwarcheidwaid i baratoi ar gyfer a chael mynediad i gyfleoedd gwaith. Gallan nhw helpu trwy:
