Your Invitation to Join Torfaen’s Virtual Foster Carer/s Support Group on Microsoft Teams

Dear foster carer(s)

During these unprecedented times, it is important that we keep lines of communication open and continue to offer guidance and support to our foster carers.

We have set up monthly virtual support groups for you to come along to and meet the team, share ideas and good practice, meet other foster carers and build networks.

The sessions are informal, so bring along a tea/coffee and join in!

You don’t have to be a new carer to join these sessions, all carers old and new are welcome –  the more the merrier!

Dates for these sessions are listed below, and the initial meeting will be to gather from you, our carers, what you would like to gain from the future sessions – guest speakers, specific themes/topics of discussions or even just a coffee morning!

We hope that in the future we will be able to return to Face to Face Support Groups, but until we are able to do so, they will be online, on Microsoft Teams.

Torfaen’s Family Placement Team wishes you all a very Happy New Year and a prosperous 2021.

We hope you all had a peaceful and restful festive period.

Online Resources for Home Learning

There are a number of resources online that can help with the current lockdown and educating at home.

Although the schools should be providing some home learning packs, it can often be difficult to explain some of these tasks.  As a result, we have sourced a few online resources which we hope you will find helpful should you need it.

The Trinity Protocol Scheme

The Trinity Protocol Scheme is designed to allow loved ones and caregivers the opportunity to register an individual with Gwent Police.

The goal is to let officers know before they respond to a call that they might be dealing with someone with neuro-diverse needs.

Those who participate in the registry can provide vital information to help officers diffuse a threatening situation peacefully.  It may be the person might not be able to speak or respond to commands, and might react violently to lights or sirens. Crucial information for officers to have.

If you care for someone or know someone who could benefit from being included in this scheme, then please ask for a registration form by emailing the neurodiversity team at NeuroDiversity@gwent.pnn.police.uk
