Our covid enforcement officers and Gwent Police have seen a big increase in complaints from the public about groups of children not adhering to the current lockdown.
We know it’s tough for young people not meeting up with friends but we’re all in this together. We need parents to help stop the virus being brought back into their home and then spread to older relatives.
In Torfaen there are more people aged 50-59 with covid than any other group.

Covid-19 vaccination programme for Wales
There are now 28 mass vaccination centres across Wales, with another 17 due to open soon. They’re not the only places offering vaccines – 250 GP surgeries will have it by the end of January.
These are not walk-in centres, the NHS will contact you when it's your turn for a vaccine.
To date 212,317 people in Wales have now received the coronavirus vaccine.

The Welsh Government is providing an extra £250k to help unpaid carers cope with extra financial pressures during the coronavirus pandemic.

 Temporary Covid-19 testing centres in Torfaen have been extended until 26/01/2021.
The units are located at:
- Greenmeadow Community Farm - Greenforge Way, Cwmbran, NP44 5AJ
- Old Mill Car Park - Pontypool, Trosnant Street, Pontypool, NP4 8AT
The units are open 09:00-16:00 daily.
Please note, these are appointment only (walk up and drive through facilities).
If you feel generally unwell or if you have symptoms of Coronavirus you can book a test at one of the testing centres in Torfaen by calling 119 between 8am and 6pm or book online at gov.wales.
Symptoms may be very mild and include a:
- New continuous cough
- High temperature
- Loss of taste and/or smell
You cannot book a test via your GP or Local Authority.

Coronavirus self isolation payment scheme
If you have been contacted by NHS Wales Test, Trace, protect service (TTP) and been told to self-isolate, you may be entitled to financial support.
You are entitled to an Isolation Payment of £500 if you meet ALL of the eligibility criteria below:
- You are employed or self-employed
- You cannot work from home and will lose income as a result
- You or your partner are currently receiving at least one of the following benefits: Universal Credit, Working Tax Credit, income-based Employment and Support Allowance, income-based Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit and/or Pension Credit
Parents and carers of children required to self-isolate because of a coronavirus case are may also be eligible.

 Self isolating after a positive COVID19 test
It is an offence if you choose not to self-isolate following a positive COVID19 test. It's also an offence not to isolate if you’ve been told by a tracer that you’ve been in close contact with someone who has tested positive.
You must also provide the contact tracer with names of the people you live with and it is also an offence to provide false or misleading information.

Covid Data Dashboard
The councils interactive data dashboard helps demonstrate the prevalence of Covid-19 in the borough. The dashboard is based on Public Health Wales daily data and shows the distribution of positive Covid-19 tests across our communities over a rolling 7-day period.
The data can be seen on a map and bar charts, with an animation function that shows how this changes over a 10 day period. Hovering over the map or bar charts will show further detail.
