Sites are live
Now our sites are up and running, from Monday 30th of March we will be able to consider applications from all of the key worker groups set out by the UK government:
- Health and Social Care
- Education and Care
- Key public services
- Local and national government
- Food and other necessary goods
- Public safety and national security
- Transport
- Utilities, communication and financial services
For further details about the jobs under these headings click here:
However, the Government advice remains clear and we should all adhere to the following key principles:
- If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be
- If a child needs specialist support, is deemed vulnerable by TCBC or has a parent who is a critical worker, then a safe secure environment will be available for them
- Parents should not rely for childcare from those who are advised to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions
- Parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults
- Residential special schools, boarding schools and special settings continue to care for children wherever possible
Support for pre-school childcare
The Early Years’ Service are working in close partnership with the childcare sector across Torfaen to provide childcare for Emergency Service’s and Key Essential Workers for children under 4.
Following the Welsh Government’s announcement on Friday 20th March, where possible, children should remain at home. Therefore, the childcare sector will only be giving access for the above sector and restricting access for all other childcare places following the guidance.
If you are an Emergency Service Employee or Key Essential Worker and require childcare for a child under 4, please contact the Early Years team on 01633 647400/648114 or 648115, Monday - Friday between 8.30am – 4.30pm.
We are working directly with key services and our childcare providers to ensure provision in place for our vulnerable children.
We are ensuring that all existing childcare provision based on school sites remains open, even if the school itself is closed.
