This new Coleg Gwent campus will be the home of all English language A Level education in Torfaen and will also offer students the Welsh Baccalaureate and a range of vocational qualifications.
The new centre replaces three English medium school sixth forms in the borough and will be managed and run by Coleg Gwent in partnership with the council.
The centre will provide the pathway for Torfaen students into higher education, training and employment.

Bydd y campws newydd hwn yng Ngholeg Gwent yn gartref i holl addysg Lefel A Saesneg ei hiaith yn Nhorfaen, a bydd hefyd yn cynnig Bagloriaeth Cymru ac ystod o gymwysterau galwedigaethol i fyfyrwyr.
Mae’r ganolfan newydd yn disodli chweched dosbarth tair ysgol Saesneg eu cyfrwng yn y fwrdeistref a bydd yn cael ei rheoli a’i rhedeg gan Goleg Gwent mewn partneriaeth â’r cyngor.
Bydd y ganolfan yn darparu llwybr i fyfyrwyr Torfaen i addysg uwch, hyfforddiant a chyflogaeth.
On target and on budget
Progress on the building’s superstructure and steel frame is making rapid progress and a handover date of June 2020 remains on target and costs remain on budget and the building will be open for students in September 2020 as planned.
The ground floor concrete slab is complete and the steel frame has now risen high above the Morrisons supermarket next door.
This month tenders are being issued for all the building’s furniture and IT.

Mae’r cynnydd ar oruwchadeilad a ffrâm ddur yr adeilad yn mynd rhagddo’n gyflym ac mae dyddiad cyflwyno’r adeilad ym mis Mehefin 2020 yn dal o fewn y targed, ac mae’r costau o fewn y gyllideb, a bydd yr adeilad yn agor i fyfyrwyr ym mis Medi 2020 yn unol â’r cynlluniau.
Mae slab concrid y llawr gwaelod wedi ei gwblhau ac mae’r ffrâm ddur bellach wedi codi yn uwch nag archfarchnad Morrisons drws nesaf.
Y mis hwn, mae tendrau’n cael eu cyflwyno ar gyfer holl ddodrefn a TG yr adeilad.
Latest curriculum and Pupil Transition news
Following work between Coleg Gwent and all the borough’s secondary schools to align curriculums and study materials, the number of A levels on offer in Cwmbran has increased to 26 and vocational qualifications have increased from 13 to 16. As part of the pupil transition process staff from Coleg Gwent and the council have attended options evenings at Cwmbran High, Croesyceiliog and St, Alban’s as well as school assemblies at St. Alban’s, Abersychan and West Mon.
Coleg Gwent have also advertised for the post of Head of School, General Education (A levels) with interviews due this month for the person appointed to start their role in September 2019.

Ar ôl gwaith rhwng Coleg Gwent a holl ysgolion uwchradd y fwrdeistref i alinio’r cwricwlwm a’r deunyddiau astudio, mae nifer y cyrsiau Lefel A sydd ar gael yng Nghwmbrân wedi cynyddu i 26 ac mae cymwysterau galwedigaethol wedi cynyddu o 13 i 16. Fel rhan o’r broses o drosglwyddo disgyblion, mae staff o Goleg Gwent a’r cyngor wedi mynychu nosweithiau opsiynau yn Ysgol Uwchradd Cwmbrân, Croesyceiliog a St. Alban’s ynghyd â chynulleidfaoedd ysgol yn St. Alban’s, Abersychan a Gorllewin Mynwy.
Mae Coleg Gwent hefyd wedi hysbysu swydd Pennaeth yr Ysgol, Addysg Gyffredinol (Lefel A) gyda chyfweliadau i’w cynnal y mis yma er mwyn i’r person a benodir ddechrau yn eu rôl ym mis Medi 2019.
