Today (7/3/2019), The Wales School for Social Care Research and The Gwent Regional Partnership Team launched an interactive event that brought together home carers from across Gwent and beyond to celebrate the innovation, commitment and good practice of care staff through the sharing of stories and ‘magic moments.’
The ‘Magic Moments in Homecare’ event also celebrated the positive difference home carers make every day to people’s lives across Gwent.
Social Care is a growth sector, particularly as people are living longer and wish to be cared for in their own homes. In the next ten years it is estimated that the care sector will need an additional 20,000 staff across social care, and 2,700 in childcare and early years to meet demand.
This will be across a wide variety of roles including child minders, play workers, home carers, personal assistants and social workers.
Aside from this, Social Care Wales is working in partnership with key stakeholder across Wales to develop the ‘We Care’ national attraction, recruitment and retention campaign for the social care and early years sectors.
Nick Andrews, Research and Practice Development Officer at the Wales School for Social Care Research said, "Within the care sector it is important to recognise that small things can make a big difference to people’s lives and wellbeing.
It is these small acts of kindness, which often go unseen, that the event hopes to capture, share and celebrate. At this event today, we hope to raise the profile of the vital roles social care workers fulfil within our communities in order to stimulate interest in social care careers across Gwent.’

Heddiw (7/3/2019), lansiodd Coleg Cymru ar gyfer Ymchwil Gofal Cymdeithasol a Thîm Partneriaeth Ranbarthol Gwent ddigwyddiad rhyngweithiol yn dwyn at ei gilydd ofalwyr cartref o bob cwr o Went a thu hwnt i ddathlu’r arloesi, yr ymroddiad ac arferion da staff gofal trwy rannu straeon a ‘munudau hudol’.
Roedd y digwyddiad ‘Munudau Hudol mewn Gofal Cartref’ hefyd yn dathlu’r gwahaniaeth cadarnhaol y mae gofalwyr cartref yn ei wneud bob dydd i fywydau pobl ledled Gwent.
Mae gofal cymdeithasol yn sector sy’n tyfu, yn enwedig wrth i bobl fyw’n hirach a dymuno cael gofal yn eu cartrefi eu hunain. Yn y deng mlynedd nesaf, ystyrir y bydd y sector gofal angen 20,000 yn fwy o staff ar draws gofal cymdeithasol, a 2,700 mewn gofal plant a blynyddoedd cynnar i ddiwallu’r galw.
Bydd hyn ar draws amrywiaeth o rolau gan gynnwys gwarchodwyr plant, gweithwyr chwarae, gofalwyr cartref, cynorthwywyr personol a gweithwyr cymdeithasol.
Ar wahân i hyn, mae Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth gyda rhanddeiliaid allweddol ledled Cymru i ddatblygu’r ymgyrch genedlaethol ‘Gofalwn’ i recriwtio a chadw staff ar gyfer y sectorau gofal cymdeithasol a blynyddoedd cynnar.
Meddai Nick Andrews, Swyddog Ymchwil a Datblygu Practis yng Ngholeg Ymchwil Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru, "Yn y sector gofal mae’n bwysig cydnabod bod pethau bach yn medru gwneud gwahaniaeth mawr i fywydau a lles pobl.
“Y gweithredoedd bach hyn, sy’n aml yn digwydd heb i lawer sylwi arnyn nhw, y mae’r digwyddiad yn gobeithio eu rhannu a’u dathlu. Yn y digwyddiad hwn heddiw, rydym yn gobeithio codi proffil y rolau hollbwysig y mae gweithwyr gofal cymdeithasol yn eu cyflawni yn ein cymunedau, er mwyn ysgogi diddordeb mewn gyrfaoedd gofal cymdeithasol ledled Gwent.”
