New council appointments confirmed

At the annual general meeting (AGM) of Torfaen council on Tuesday, all the key political appointments to the council's cabinet, committees and outside bodies were confirmed for the year ahead.

The first act of the AGM was to appoint a Presiding Member and Deputy Presiding Member to replace the deleted positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

The Mayor’s role and supporting resources were removed as part of the budget process for 2018/19 to save £52,000 and was approved to help address a budget shortfall of almost £9million. Read full story...

Local business supported by Torfaen Council to expand workforce King’s Financial Services, located on Mamhilad Park Estate has recently expanded its workforce, with assistance from Torfaen County Borough Council’s Employability Team. Specialising in mortgage and insurance products, the business moved to Torfaen to take up office space at the popular Mamhilad Park Estate, Pontypool.

Spring Clean in Griffithstown/Sebastopol

There will be a litter pick in the Griffithstown and Sebastopol area tomorrow (Saturday) from 9am. Anyone who wants to take part should meet at Panteg House, Greenhill Road, Griffithstown.

Bydd sesiwn casglu sbwriel yn ardal Tref Gruffydd a Sebastopol yfory (dydd Sadwrn) o 9am. Dylai unrhyw un sydd am gymryd rhan gyfarfod yn Nhŷ Panteg, Greenhill Road, Tref Gruffydd.

'Darling Buds of May' at Llanyrafon Manor Llanyrafon Manor will soon be hosting a ‘Darling Buds of May’ growing competition at the Manor. Entries are open to all primary schools, nurseries and families in Torfaen. This is a great project and designs can be as small as a bird feeder or as big as a wheelbarrow. Entry is free and there will be prizes & rosettes for winning planters. Entries need to be submitted by 4pm, Thursday 24 May and it will be put forward for judging.
