Bank Holiday arrangements / Oriau Agor Swyddfeydd dros Wyliau Banc

It's a Bank Holiday weekend, so please see below to ensure you're informed of the changes to services including bin collections and office closures

Bank Holiday bin collections

  • Monday 7 May will be collected on Tuesday 8 May
  • Tuesday 8 May will be collected on Wednesday 9 May
  • Wednesday 9 May will be collected on Thursday 10 May
  • Thursday 10 May will be collected on Friday 11 May
  • Friday 11 May will be collected on Saturday 12 May 

Please note: From Tuesday 8 May until Saturday 12 May crews will start their collections at 6am. Please have your waste and recycling at the kerbside for 6am.

Nodwch os gwelwch yn dda: O ddydd Mawrth 8 Mai tan ddydd Sadwrn 12 Mai bydd y criwiau yn dechrau casglu sbwriel am 6am. Gwnewch yn siŵr eich bod yn gadael eich gwastraff sbwriel ac ailgylchu wrth ymyl y ffordd erbyn 6am.

Flytipping

Torfaen council approves tougher fines for fly-tippers

Torfaen council is using new powers to hit fly-tippers with on-the-spot fines of up to £400.

The Unauthorised Deposit of Waste (Fixed Penalty) (Wales) Regulations 2017 give councils greater powers to tackle low-level fly tipping offences directly, without having to undertake lengthy court proceedings. Full story here

Mae cyngor Torfaen yn defnyddio pwerau newydd i daro rhai sy’n tipio’n anghyfreithlon gyda dirwyon yn y fan a’r lle o hyd at £400.

Mae Rheoliadau Dyddodi Gwastraff heb Awdurdod (Cosbau Penodedig) (Cymru) 2017 yn rhoi pwerau grymusach i gynghorau i ddelio â throseddau tipio anghyfreithlon lefel isel yn uniongyrchol, heb orfod dilyn proses faith drwy’r llysoedd. Full story here


Work begins to create new footbridge at Pontypool Park

 

Initial work to create a new footbridge between the car park at Pontypool Park, and the park itself, will begin on Thursday 3 May.

The new footbridge will improve access to the park for pedestrians, providing an alternative route to the current bridge which is also heavily used by vehicles. Full story here
