Safe Places in Torfaen
A Safe Place is an accessible place in the community where anyone who might need a little more help and support when they are out and about can call in to get assistance. Members of the scheme carry a I.C.E card or they may have a key fob. However, you don’t need to be a member to benefit from the Safe Places Scheme.
The I.C.E. card or fob holds the telephone number(s) of someone who knows the person best and can help. The safe place will contact this person and make sure that the person is safe and comfortable until they come to assist. There are over 45 safe places in Torfaen. They are in shops, public places, libraries and other facilities. We have over 1000 ICE cards/fobs printed. Mae Man Diogel yn lle hygyrch yn y gymuned
lle gall unrhyw un sydd, efallai, angen ychydig bach mwy o help a chymorth pan
fyddant allan o’r tŷ, fynd i gael cymorth. Mae aelodau’r cynllun yn cario
cerdyn I.C.E neu efallai bod ganddyn nhw allwedd ar gerdyn. Fodd bynnag, nid
oes angen i chi fod yn aelod i elwa o’r Cynllun Mannau Diogel.
Mae’r cerdyn I.C.E. neu’r cerdyn yn cynnwys
rhif(au) ffôn rhywun sy’n adnabod y person orau ac a all helpu. Bydd y man
diogel yn cysylltu â’r person hwn a gwneud yn siŵr bod y person yn ddiogel ac
yn gyfforddus nes medrent ddod i gynorthwyo. Mae mwy na 45 o fannau diogel yn
Nhorfaen, yn cynnwys siopau, mannau cyhoeddus, llyfrgelloedd a chyfleusterau
eraill. Rydym wedi argraffu mwy na 1000 o gardiau/llogellau allwedd ICE. Pe

Safe Places welcomes Torfaen Leisure Trust aboard.
From 16 April 2018, all Leisure Trust buildings will be part of the network Safe Places across the county . This includes Cwmbran Stadium, Pontypool Active Living Centre, Fairwater Leisure Centre, Bowden Active Living Centre and the Pontypool Ski Centre.
To ensure that everyone understands the scheme members of Torfaen People First held a Safe Places awareness raising session for Centre Managers which will be rolled out for all Torfaen Leisure Trust staff.
The staff team have also recently completed Autism Awareness training and hope to become dementia friendly in the near future too.
The Leisure Trust coming on board shows how the Safe Places scheme in Torfaen is going from strength to strength providing crucial support whilst promoting independence.
Lleoedd Diogel yn croesawu Ymddiriedolaeth Hamdden Torfaen.

Ymddiriedolaeth Hamdden yn rhan o rwydwaith Lleoedd Diogel ar draws y sir. Mae
hyn y cynnwys Stadiwm Cwmbrân, Canolfan Byw’n Egnïol Pont-y-pŵl, Canolfan
Hamdden Fairwater, Canolfan Byw’n Egnïol Bowden a Chanolfan sgïo Pont-y-pŵl.
Er mwyn
sicrhau bod pawb yn deall y cynllun, cynhaliodd aelodau o Bobl yn Gyntaf
Torfaen sesiwn i godi ymwybyddiaeth o Leoedd Diogel ar gyfer Rheolwyr y
Ganolfan a fydd yn cael ei gyflwyno ymhen amser i holl staff Ymddiriedolaeth
Hamdden Torfaen.
Cwblhaodd y staff hefyd hyfforddiant Ymwybyddiaeth
o Awtistiaeth yn ddiweddar ac maen nhw’n gobeithio dod yn dementia-gyfeillgar
yn y dyfodol agos hefyd.
Mae bod
yr Ymddiriedolaeth Hamdden yn ymuno yn dangos sut mae’r cynllun Lleoedd Diogel
yn Nhorfaen yn mynd o nerth i nerth gan roi cefnogaeth hanfodol wrth hybu
annibyniaeth.
 Download the Safe Places app
If you have a smart phone or tablet you can download the safe places app from Google Play or Itunes. Following the link from www.safeplaces.org.uk is probably the easiest way to find the app. Just go to the website and click on the itunes or Google Play logo and then download the app. The app will help you find your way to the nearest safe place with a map and walking directions. It will also help to make a 101 call, if you need it to.

 Look out for the Safe Places film
Shortly, you will be able to see a film about Safe Places in Torfaen on the council website and Youtube. The film tells the story of why people need a safe place and why shops, organisations and business in Torfaen have decided to become Safe Places.

 Free teacher resources
If you are a teacher, tutor, travel trainer or anyone who wants to teach people about Safe Places, we have some free materials that can help you. The resources cover; finding and visiting a safe place, getting out and about and using the website and app. The resources include quizzes, flashcards, maps and social stories.
