Torfaen council invests in borough-wide deep clean / Cyngor Torfaen yn buddsoddi mewn glanhau trylwyr yn y fwrdeistref

Torfaen council is investing £65,000 to tackle litter in streets, shopping areas, parks, road verges and cycle paths.

The additional funding will allow the council to draft in more than 20 extra staff to join its front line street cleaning teams for a number of weeks.   

Work will begin from Monday 26 March and the council will also work in partnership with Bron Afon to cleanse areas that don’t fall under council ownership. 


Mae cyngor Torfaen yn buddsoddi £65,000 i ddelio gyda sbwriel mewn strydoedd, ardaloedd siopa, parciau, ymylon ffyrdd a llwybrau beicio.

Bydd yr arian ychwanegol yn caniatáu i’r cyngor ddod â mwy nag 20 aelod staff ychwanegol i mewn i ymuno â’i dimau glanhau strydoedd rheng flaen am nifer o wythnosau.

Bydd y gwaith yn dechrau ar ddydd Llun 26 Mawrth a bydd y cyngor hefyd yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth gyda Bron Afon i lanhau mannau nad ydynt ym meddiant y cyngor. 

Shop worker jailed for selling illegal cigarettes in Pontypool

Two employees at a Pontypool convenience store have been prosecuted for selling illegal cigarettes.

Dana Kadir and Amanj Tawfik both sold counterfeit tobacco and cigarettes from Cost Less European Foods on Osborne Road.

Presentation of First Aid certificates

A group of young women from Torfaen received certificates from St John’s Ambulance for achieving their basic first aid qualifications. The presentation took place at Ashley House in Cwmbran.

The group which formed a year ago, is a joint venture between the Torfaen social care and youth service teams to support young women with mild learning disabilities.


Cyflwyno tystysgrifau Cymorth Cyntaf

Cafodd grŵp o ferched ifanc o Dorfaen dystysgrifau gan Ambiwlans Sant Ioan am gyflawni cymwysterau sylfaenol cymorth cyntaf. Cynhaliwyd y cyflwyniad yn Ashley House, Cwmbrân.

Mae’r grŵp, a gafodd ei ffurfio flwyddyn yn ôl, yn fenter ar y cyd rhwng timau gofal cymdeithasol a gwasanaeth ieuenctid Torfaen i gefnogi merched ifanc sydd ag anableddau dysgu cymedrol.


New approach to breaking down barriers to food recycling

Torfaen council has partnered with the Wales Audit Office to understand why significant numbers of people in the borough choose not to recycle their food waste.

 

Currently around 61 per cent of homes that have the option of recycling their food waste put it out for collection.

 

The council is utilising the academic research software SenseMaker® to try and get a deeper understanding of the reasons why people choose not to recycle their food waste. Take part in the survey at http://bit.ly/2EHGOjH

Mae cyngor Torfaen wedi ymuno â Swyddfa Archwilio Cymru i ddeall pam fo nifer arwyddocaol o bobl yn y fwrdeistref yn dewis peidio ag ailgylchu eu gwastraff bwyd.

Ar hyn o bryd, mae rhyw 61 y cant o gartrefi sydd â’r opsiwn o ailgylchu eu gwastraff bwyd yn ei roi allan i’w gasglu.
