skinny bin

The roll out of skinny bins across Torfaen is almost complete with about 33,000 bins delivered so far. All deliveries are expected to be completed by the 6 November.
The bins are being introduced to help the council meet strict recycling tagets and avoid large fines.
Residents should continue to put their wheelie bins out on their usual collection day and they will be swapped for a smaller, purple lidded bin between now and November 6.
The new bins should be delivered on the same day that the old ones are removed but please note that crews continue to deliver the new bins into the evenings.
If a property is missed when the rest of a street is delivered, please report it here

Sign up for nappy collections

Residents are reminded that they can sign up to receive a dedicated nappy collection service.

Anyone with children in nappies can apply for a supply of bags which will be collected fortnightly on the same day as the black wheelie bin.

Residents can sign up via the council’s website.

They will need to provide proof of residence in Torfaen, as well as a copy of the birth certificate for each child being signed up to the scheme. The nappy bags can be collected from the Civic Centre in Pontypool, customer care centre in Cwmbran, and World Heritage Centre in Blaenavon. They can also be collected from the household waste recycling centre in New Inn on weekends.

Recycle at home

Torfaen residents can recycle most of their household waste at the kerbside. Everything from food waste, plastics, paper, cartons, cans, glass and textiles are collected from the kerbside every week. Cardboard and garden waste are collected fortnightly.

Residents can have as many containers as they need for their recycling free of charge, and nets to keep the recycling secure. A full list of items which can be recycled at the kerbside can be viewed hereRecycling containers and nets can be ordered here
