Cwmbran man prosecuted for fly tipping

Matthew Williams, 31, of Ventnor Road pleaded guilty to unlawfully depositing controlled waste on common land at The British mountain, near Pontypool, in May 2014. Mr Williams was prosecuted after a lengthy investigation and fined £320, and ordered to pay costs of £619.60 and a victim surcharge of £32, at Cwmbran magistrates’ court on Friday 24 July 2015. Fly tipping can be reported to the council confidentially via the website, through the Torfaen app, or by calling 01495 762200.

Traveller

Gypsy, Traveller and Showpeople Sites - Your Say, Your Future

The Welsh Government invites Gypsies and Traveller families to take part in a survey with Torfaen council to make sure the true accommodation needs of these communities in each area is known. To take part, call 01495 742302 or email equality@torfaen.gov.uk The survey must be completed by Monday 30 November.


Post office

New post office opens in Blaenavon

Nick and Wendy Horler, who set up an art and craft shop in Blaenavon just over a year ago, have expanded their business in order to keep a Post Office service in the town. They opened the doors to customers on Monday (July 27) and will hold a formal launch event in the near future.


Pontypool Market

Rent a table at Pontypool Indoor Market

The casual table renting scheme runs from Monday 3 August until Saturday 29 August.

During this period tables can be rented for £5 per day or £15 for the week (Monday to Saturday).

The tables are situated in Mogford’s Arcade and the central walkway. Trading hours are 10am to 1pm on Monday, 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Friday, and 10am to 3pm on Saturday. Contact Sharon Hutchinson on 01495 742757 or Sharon.hutchinson@torfaen.gov.uk.
