 How to Vote
Assuming you’re one of the 62,000 people registered to vote in Torfaen, you can vote at your
local polling station between 7am and 10pm. You will have received a polling
card from the council with details of your local polling station. If you forget or lose your poll card you can still vote. If
you’re unsure where your polling station is please contact the elections office
on 01495 762200.
If you haven’t registered to vote then you won’t be able to
take part in Thursday’s election – the deadline for registration was April 20, but you can still register for future elections either online or by calling 01495 762200 and asking for the elections team.

 Inside the polling station
Follow the signs outside and give your name and address to staff at the polling station. They will give you a ballot paper which has all the Torfaen candidates listed and
instructions on how to vote. Take the paper to the polling booth and place a
cross by the candidate of your choice. Fold the ballot paper in half and place
it in the ballot box. Do not put any other marks on the ballot paper or it may not
be counted.

 The result
The election count will take place at Pontypool Active
Living Centre after all the ballot boxes are received from the polling stations. The results are expected
in the early hours of the morning but can take longer if the results are close. Keep
an eye on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages for the Torfaen result.

And finally... selfies in polling stations!
While first time (or regular) voters might be tempted to take a selfie in a polling station to share the occasion with friends and family, please note that photography of any kind (including on mobiles) isn't allowed inside a polling station.
You can however take a photo outside the station - why not use the hashtag #torfaenelection and share your election experience with other local voters?
