Business Revitalisation Grant

The Council’s Business Revitalisation Grant has been launched this week. Grants of up to £10,000 are available to businesses that remain directly or indirectly impacted by Covid Restrictions. The fund is aimed at businesses that support 15 or more employees. The key eligibility criteria are that the business must:

  • Be the current ratepayer and be in occupation of business rated premises in the Somerset West and Taunton area throughout the last 12 months and have a business rateable value on the premises occupied of £15,001 or over
  • Employ at least 15 people (including part time staff and those who are / have been furloughed)
  • Demonstrate proven financial difficulty – at least 25% decrease in turnover as a result of the Covid crisis
  • Be viable and not failing, but require some temporary additional support to stabilise its operations due to the impact that Covid19 has had on its market, customer base or supply chain.

Businesses from any sector can apply. The Council is particularly keen to support those businesses and organisations that were unable to be fully compensated through the support provided by previous Government COVID Support packages earlier this year.

The application window is scheduled to close at 5pm on Mon 1st November 2021. However, the Council reserves the right to close the scheme earlier should the scheme be over-subscribed.

Minehead BID Social Media Brief

We are looking for an individual or company to provide scheduled content on our social media channels.

This content should be engaging, promoting the strengths of Minehead as an event, retail and visitor destination and be supported by good quality images.

Our target audiences are local residents in a 20-mile radius of Minehead, day visitors and those considering coming here on holiday.

The aim of the commission is to make Visit Minehead the one-stop platform for promoting Minehead.

Experience required

Knowledge of Minehead, the businesses within and the challenges and opportunities that would exist with this commission would be an essential requirement.

Duration of commission

The social media commission would initially be for a 2-month trial running from 1st November to 31st December 2021 with a potential extension through to the completion of the BID’s first term in June 2023.

We would expect a service to be operated Monday to Friday throughout this commission with scheduled content on weekends or public holidays, attendance at BID supported events would be encouraged.

The successful person/team would work with the BID Manager Andrew Hopkins and Marketing Sub-Group Chair Alison Prior.
