About this event

Food businesses are invited to join Environmental Health and Trading Standards Officers from Devon, Somerset, Torbay and Plymouth for this free, 1-hour webinar to learn how to control allergens in the food you serve.

The webinar will cover:

  • The 14 legally recognised allergens and the relevant legislation. 
  • Practical advice on identifying allergens in ingredients and “may contain”.  
  • Practical advice about preventing cross-contamination risks.
  • The importance of food management systems and practical implementation.  
  • Links to additional support tools, advice and step-by-step guidance. 
  • Changes to allergen labelling requirements in October 2021.
  • Plus there will be a chance to ask questions to get specific advice relating to your business.

This webinar is open to businesses based in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Plymouth Somerset and Torbay.

Young Somerset: Search for Talented Young Producers and Designers

Young Somerset Bold and Brave

We're on the search for talented young producers and designers (aged 14-25), who'd like to showcase and sell their products/services in our new shop in Taunton! Our shop, called Bold & Brave, is an exciting new social enterprise shop, established by Young Somerset, bringing together young people and the community.

The product or service that your students could showcase and sell, could be anything from creating greeting cards to producing clothing to designing websites! 

This is unique opportunity will give young peoples' skills or products an audience, develop skills and confidence, network with other young entrepreneurs, be mentored by Young Somerset staff and community partners.

How to get involved: 

For young people interested they'll need to send the below information to our Retail Manager, Carol: carolfarmer@youngsomerset.org.uk by Friday 16th July.

  • Name
  • Contact details
  • Description of their product/service (max 1 side of A4) 
  • Up to 5 supporting photos
  • Their answer to the question “I am Bold & Brave because...”

Shortlisted entries will be invited to take part in a Dragon’s Den style pitch at our new social enterprise venue in Taunton, at the end of July.
