Every day, 1 in 4 people in the UK eat a meal in a public sector setting. The South West Food Hub invites you to join us for our next event on Wednesday 12 May at 12pm, where we’ll be looking at what is being done to help ensure the food bought and served by the public sector is more sustainable and supports local producers.
We’re delighted to welcome back Neil Parish MP and Chair of the EFRA Committee. Neil will be talking about the recently published EFRA report into public sector food procurement, which sets out recommendations on what the government can do to improve how the public sector buys its food, calling for it to do more to support local producers and backing the South West pilot for a new dynamic purchasing system for public sector food procurement.
We’ll also be joined by Philip Shelley, Chair of the National NHS Food Review. We’ll find out more about the review and its recommendations on how we can get more nutritious, locally sourced food into hospitals. He’ll also tell us more about his work leading the new strategy to bring these recommendations to life.
We’ll also hear from David Hynd, Programme and Partnerships Manager of the Heart of the South West Growth Hub. The Growth Hub helps businesses in the area wishing to develop and grow and David will chat more about their work and the help they can offer local SMEs.
