Understanding Specialist Resourced Provisions in Stoke-on-Trent
You might not have heard about Specialist Resourced Provisions (SRPs), but they are an important part of Stoke-on-Trent’s approach to inclusive education. They allow children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to attend a mainstream school while receiving additional specialist support.
What are SRPs?
SRPs are designed for children whose needs cannot be fully met in a standard classroom. They provide:
Access to specialist staff and resources
Tailored interventions to support learning and development
Opportunities to remain part of the mainstream school community
Who decides on SRP placements?
The Local Authority Education Panel reviews whether an SRP is suitable for a child. This decision is based on the child’s EHCP and individual needs.
What should parents do?
If you think an SRP might be appropriate for your child, speak to your EHC Caseworker. They can explain the process and what provisions are available locally.
