A blueprint for St Albans District’s future growth is on schedule with a public consultation to be held this autumn. St Albans City and District Council is producing a Local Plan which identifies land suitable for infrastructure, commercial and housing development as well as new green spaces. A progress report on the Local Plan was given to the Council's Planning Policy and Climate Committee at the end of June. The draft Local Plan is being amended following a major public consultation last year and may include some new sites that have been suggested as suitable for development.
This revised draft will be published in October and then undergo a two-month consultation with residents, businesses, community groups and other organisations.

Hertfordshire County Council has just signed the Care Leaver Covenant, pledging its continued commitment to support care leavers as they continue their journey to live independently.
As part of its commitment, the County Council is calling on other local businesses, organisations and services, to also sign up. It is encouraging local employers and housing providers to reach out to these young adults by offering support and opportunities as they take their next steps into adulthood.
Because of their experience many of these young people can bring all kinds of benefits to a workforce such as resilience, empathy, communication, and leadership skills to name just a few. It’s a big step for them; be part of it!
