Save the date for the Annual Conference

Beau Desert Golf course

As you know 2025 marks the start of our new five year management plan for Cannock Chase National Landscape, setting out our ambitions to do more for Nature, Climate, People and Place.   It is fitting, therefore, that the theme of this year’s conference is Delivering Change.  We invite you to join with us and our contributors and other delegates to explore how we can work together, collaboratively, creatively and more inclusively to turn our ambitions into reality. The Conference is being hosted at Beau Desert Golf Club, a championship heathland golf course set in the heart of the National Landscape on Thursday 19th June 2025.

More details and how to book will be forwarded in due course.

Don't be Blamed for the Flames

Wildfires

Further to the fire at Gentleshaw Common at the weekend please note and help to share the message that barbecues, fires and naked flames are not allowed on any part of the Chase at anytime. Although we do not know the cause of this particular fire yet, with warmer weather and the ground already very dry we need to prevent incidences like this happening in the future.

For more information please do take note of Staffordshire's Fire and Rescue service Don't be blamed for the Flames . If you see a fire call 999 as soon as possible.

We need to remember the Cannock Chase code to protect, respect and enjoy Cannock Chase to prevent future damage to plants and wildlife.

New video for Cannock Chase

Girls walking

Please find the new Cannock Chase National Landscape video which urges everyone to be kind to Cannock Chase. Its aim is to show how special this landscape is, the work that goes on to conserve and enhance it and to reiterate the importance for everyone to be proud and kind to Cannock Chase. Please share the video on your own websites, socials and channels to help to get the messages out.

Good News FiPL funding continues

volunteers

More than 20 projects have been completed over the last 12 months through the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme. The great news is that the funding stream is available again for 2025/26 for landowners, land managers and farmers in and around Cannock Chase National Landscape.

Projects that enhance nature, tackle climate change and/or help people to access the countryside could be eligible for funding. If you have an idea that you would like to discuss our FiPL Officers are here to support you. Get in touch now to discuss further Claire Geoghegan or Karen Davies.

Friendly reminder

Cannock Chase code dog

The open country and common land rights require that you must keep your dog on a short lead between 1st March and 31st July and all year round when near farm animals. More information can be found on the Countryside Code.

Pick up one of the Canine Calendars from any of the Visitor Centres to help you enjoy the Chase whilst keeping your dog safe and allowing the special habitats and species to thrive. More information can be found here from the Special Area of Conservation Partnership website.
