Wraparound Inclusive Practice Pathway - understanding behaviour and de-escalation strategies
This face-to-face session, aimed at wraparound care providers, will explore our understanding of behaviour, recognising that behaviour is complex and impacted by many factors. It will cover preventative strategies we can implement to manage behaviour and how to create a positive environment, de-escalation strategies for challenging situations, and restoring relationships following challenging situations.

Wraparound Inclusive Practice Pathway - an introduction to relational and restorative practice
This face-to-face session, aimed at wraparound care providers, will introduce the principles of RRP and how these can be practically applied in settings. Sociological and psychological theories that will be explored include: social discipline window, social capital theory, shame, window of tolerance, restorative enquiry and effective statements.

Wraparound Inclusive Practice Pathway - raising the attainment of our disadvantaged youngsters (RADY) and wraparound care
This online session, aimed at wraparound care providers, will encourage consideration of the untapped potential of our disadvantaged learners and how their work can support better attainment in regular school time. Explore how this can be achieved through target and attainment uplifts and equity in teaching and learning, ensuring the attainment of our disadvantaged learners is a golden thread throughout school policies, and focusing on the proportional representation of our disadvantaged learners in all aspects of school life.

Wraparound Inclusive Practice Pathway - autism and sensory differences
This online session, aimed at wraparound care providers, will explore how individuals with autism may experience sensory difference. Learn about the characteristics and differences in sensory processing for children and young people with autism, and explore how helpful, practical strategies can create sensory friendly environments for all children and young people, not just pupils with autism.

Consultation - improving the way Ofsted inspects education
Ofsted are seeking the views of parents, carers and professionals about their proposed plans for inspecting schools and other settings where children learn, including Early Years, state-funded schools and non-association independent schools. Plans include:

Report cards – to give parents and carers more detailed information including a new 5-point grading scale to evaluate provider’s work and short summaries of what inspectors found.

Education inspection toolkits – to show providers and inspectors the evaluation areas that inspections will focus on and how they assess and grade providers.

Inspection methodology – changes to how inspections are carried out.

Full and monitoring inspections, state-funded schools – plans to end ungraded inspections of state-funded schools and change monitoring programmes to check that timely action is taken to raise standards.

Identifying state-funded schools causing concern – a new approach to how schools are placed into a category of concern.

EY qualification requirements and standards
The DfE have recently updated their 'Early Years qualification requirements and standards', which come into force from 3 March 2025 (subject to parliamentary procedure).
The update allows for the introduction of the experience-based route for early years. It also clarifies the qualification requirements for staff counting in the level 6 staff:child ratios in EY settings and references to the EY qualifications list.

Early Years Financial Incentive 'Golden Hello'
The DfE Early Years Financial Incentive ‘Golden Hello’ pilot in Staffordshire has been extended until 31 March. This scheme offers a funded £1,000 incentive to those starting or returning to a career in early years who meet the eligibility criteria.

This will be the final term to participate; new employees must be appointed by 31 March 2025.
