Heath week, staying safe and summer fun
Stay safe on the Chase
This is a reminder for everyone out enjoying the Chase this summer to do so safely. We have had a number of incidents over the summer and would like to remind everyone that the the National Landscape has special protection to ensure that we keep it special for years to come. Barbecues and lighting of fires is not allowed anywhere. When cycling please do keep to the specified trails and routes, only using the permitted cycle tracks. Do not drop litter, take your dog poo bags home and leave no trace. Be nice and say hello as you pass. Cannock Chase is there for everyone to enjoy for many years to come.
The full code can be found on the bottom of this e-newsletter.

Cut to the Chase
Cut to the Chase is an exhibition of drawings, paintings and collage by professional artists David Gleeson, Lisa Henderson and Mark Lippett. The exhibition at the Museum of Cannock Chase runs from 24th August to 12th October and is inspired by Cannock Chase National Landscape. Each of the artists has visited Cannock Chase for many years and have now come together to bring a collection of their work featuring scenes and landscapes from the area, and to share the beauty of this very special landscape.

Successful first Heath Week
The Cannock Chase Special Area of Conservation Partnership ran a Heath Week from 27th July to 4th August, to celebrate and raise awareness of how special the heathlands on Cannock Chase National Landscape are. Family events, drop in sessions, guided walks, rides and a morning of volunteer work with the Ramblers all took place. The Special Area of Conservation Partnership are already making plans for Heath Week 2025.
Funding for Etching Hill
On a recent site visit to Etching Hill, near Rugeley, FiPL officers Karen and Claire met Charlie Forrest-King from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, to review a previous FiPL funded project. This had entailed the restoration of part of the important heathland habitat and the installation of an Interpretation Board to explain the importance of this site. More information on projects that have been funded and how you can access the funding is available in the link below.
