The Future Guardians of Cannock Chase programme aims to boost awareness and appreciation amongst children and young people about the Chase, the wonderful national landscape they have on their doorstep and to encourage them to care for the environment. The hope is that today’s youngsters will be the Future Guardians of Cannock Chase tomorrow. A new glossy, colourful guide of the features of Cannock Chase has been published by the Field Studies Council in conjunction with the Cannock Chase National Landscape Partnership. The guide has over 50 beautifully illustrated species which you can find on Cannock Chase. The guide is ideal for families with children who want to find out more about the wildlife and nature on their doorstep. Copies are available to purchase in a variety of local retailers and on Amazon. Get your copy now, get into the outdoors and explore. A great activity for all the family to do over the summer months.

New Trails leaflets
The Milford Common, Brindley Heath and RAF Hednesford Trail leaflets have all been refreshed and are available from the Cannock Chase Visitor Centre and on the Cannock Chase website . The trails are all on well waymarked footpaths and are each about 2 miles long. Ideal for all the family to enjoy.

Zog colouring competition
Visit Cannock Chase Forest and colour your way to victory in Forestry England's Zog colouring competition. An exciting opportunity for young artists to showcase creative skills and win a fabulous Zog prize bundle.

Summer of play at Shugborough
This summer Shugborough have a chock-a-block programme of summer holiday play. The tennis court will be home to natural play activities, including bug hunting, as well as giant games such as naughts and crosses. The south walled garden is home to creative play, so have a go at creating your own play with the fancy dress, stage or puppet theatre. On your journey around the estate make sure to take part in the active outdoors trail, with ten activity stations designed to challenge all ages and abilities. These activities are free for visitors.

Fun at the Wolseley Centre
Join Staffordshire Wildlife Trust at The Wolseley Centre for some outdoor fun this summer. There are drop in sessions for water slide fun or grass sledging, as well as watery themed walks where your children can learn all about the wildlife within the ponds and lake. Crafting sessions themed on caring for plants, trees and birds are also running, and if bats are your thing there's an after dark walk/talk where you'll get to learn all about these amazing mammals! Go along to the Wolseley Centre on 2nd August and be transported into a magical world of art and nature. Support your local wildlife charity and have a fun day out with all the family. There are going to be lots of family wildlife activities; theatre performances, drum and dance workshops, arts and crafts, fun games and scrummy food. Thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
