Wooden horses 1940s

Welcome to the February edition of the Staffordshire Archives and Heritage newsletter.

If you are in Newcastle-under-Lyme why not pop into the library to see the latest incarnation of the 'On Your Doorstep' touring exhibition which features wooden toys made by a local joiner in the 1940s and costume accessories from the early 19th century. Join poet Mal Dewhirst for a conversation about the display and contribute your memories of Newcastle on Monday 16 March at 2pm.

Refreshments at the History Access Point

Welcome to the History Access Point at St Mary’s, Lichfield
Most people will now know of the facilities we have on offer at Lichfield’s History Access Point (HAP). For those who have yet to discover us, we offer an opportunity to find out about your family history, free of charge, online at Ancestry and Find My Past. If your family has roots in Staffordshire you can track your ancestors through the microfiche copies of baptisms, marriages and burials or browse the Parish Register transcripts. We have copies of the Lichfield Mercury back to the 1800s on microfilm and a range of books where you can research the history of Lichfield.
Visitors can now enjoy refreshments at the newly opened café situated upstairs adjacent to the HAP. The café is a non-profit social enterprise facility for the benefit of the local community. So why not come along and visit the café and at the same time explore all that we have on offer at the HAP.
