Pocket Film Festival kicks off on Monday 9 March with the 80s classic Back to the Future at Candid Beer, followed by a week of short films, archive footage, old classics & new releases, including a welcome return of the incredible Meg Morley Trio, who will be providing live jazz accompaniment to Buster Keaton’s The Cameraman. Stafford: A Stroll Down Memory Lane An amazing collection of archive films from the Staffordshire Film Archive featuring footage of days gone by in and around Stafford District from 1934 to 1972 will show daily in Stafford Library throughout the festival.

A Visit to Staffordshire’s Past & Present Wed 11 March 6pm - 8pm Stafford Library. Staffs Poet Laureate, Mel Woodend has been working with pupils from Penkridge Middle School to create poetry inspired by the film footage of Stafford’s past. Pupils are invited to share their work at an open mic night led by Mel with guest poets Nick Degg & Lilly Massey. |

Life through a Lens: Photography & Photographs in the Staffordshire County Museum Collection - Thurs 12 March at 10.30am, Helen Johnson from the Staffs Archives & Heritage Service will explore how important photographs are in recording the history of our town and telling the story of its people. A free talk – everyone welcome. |

Family Activity: Nature's Tales We will be hosting a free family activity on Saturday 14 March 1pm -3.30pm at Stafford Library. Young explorers are invited to create tools & masks before sitting down to watch a fun selection of nature themed colourful shorts including Grammy nominated children's musical duo The Pop-Ups, with two brilliant sing-along videos to enjoy. Free just pop in!

Pushing Up Daisies Exhibition - Explores how attitudes to death & dying have changed over time. View at the Staffordshire Record Office 7 March - 18 April more info & events Family Day Arts Activities Saturday 4 April Storyteller Maria Whatton will explore traditional tales - create your own stories and make intricate paper flowers to be included in the exhibition.   Get Creative Festival 9 — 17 MAY 2020
Public libraries throughout Staffordshire are taking part in this year’s Get Creative Festival, encouraging everyone to have fun and get involved. The annual festival, which takes place 9 – 17th May, celebrates cultural activity in local communities and aims to give everyone the chance to take part. Over the course of the week people of all ages will be able to pop into selected libraries throughout Staffordshire and learn a new skill or have a go at being creative.

Tea for II – A creative engagement project to mark the 75th anniversary of VE-Day. During March & April, local groups in Staffordshire libraries will work with the National Memorial Arboretum & local artists to explore how VE day was celebrated 75 years ago in their communities, what it looked like, and what it means to remember these events 75 years on. A small exhibition will tour libraries until Remembrance day later this year. |
