Pulse8 Christmas market performance
On the evening of 11 December, Southampton Music Service's Pulse8 ensemble performed a range of carols and covers at the German Christmas market in the city centre. Our flautists, clarinetists, and brass players were accompanied by shoppers who took a short break from their shopping to sing merrily with us.

Southampton student wins young songwriter competition
Southampton student, Abigail Caveney, 13, won the Britten Young
Songwriter competition in November with her song Greater Gabbard, beating students from across the country. Abigail performed at Snape Maltings Concert Hall in Suffolk, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Benjamin Britten’s birth. Her entry was based on Anthony Horowitz' poem about the Greater Gabbard wind farm off the Suffolk
coast.
Abigail said: "I enjoyed the experience very much and it is
something I will never forget. The location was beautiful and it was a great
privilege to perform there." We'd like to congratulate Abigail on her fantastic achievement; it's great to celebrate the accomplishments of our talented young musicians.

Les Misérables at Bitterne Park School
Les Misérables was produced and performed by students at Bitterne Park School between 5 and 8 November. Students got involved in all aspects of this large-scale sell-out production including the chorus, technical crew, set design and orchestra.
Graham Longdin, Performing Arts and Design Technician at the school said: "Never before have we had so many letters of praise and thanks from
audience members; we produced such a professional, near 'West
End standard' show. All I can say is
thank you – I loved every minute".
