Latest Coronavirus business support information: Survey: How has Covid-19 affected you? | Deadline for Furlough scheme | Update on Discretionary Grants Fund
Update on Local Authority Discretionary Grants Fund
Southampton City Council will be delivering this funding to businesses and aim to open an online application form to eligible businesses soon. We appreciate your patience and are working hard to get this scheme up and running as quickly as possible.
The purpose of the scheme is to support small businesses and to encourage growth and re-employment as the ‘lock-down’ measures are eased.
Eligible submissions will be assessed on turnover, the number of employees and fixed monthly property cost and an appropriate grant value assigned. In addition, all submissions will be scored and ranked to ensure that grants are provided equitably. A weighting will be given to prioritised businesses.
Please be warned that the scheme is likely to be oversubscribed and so, with a limited budget from Government, some non-prioritised businesses may not receive grant support.
The final date by which an employer can furlough an employee for the first time will be 10 June 2020, in order for the current three-week furlough period to be completed by 30 June 2020.
Employers will have until 31 July to make any claims in respect of the period to 30 June.
The University of Portsmouth, working with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Local Resilience Forum (LRF), has launched a new survey to help understand the initial impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on local businesses in our area, and more importantly where further support might be needed, and where opportunities can be created.
As part of the LRF, organisations from across Hampshire and the IOW are working together to help businesses and the local economy to recover and thrive.
Please help by completing the survey, which will take about 10 minutes.
