Bitterne Library Story and Rhyme Times

Story and rhyme times have changed days at Bitterne Library!

Our story and rhyme times are fun, interactive singing activities designed for under 5s.

Rhyme time / Wednesdays / 2pm - 2.30pm

Story time / Thursdays / 2pm - 2.30pm

Rhyme time / Fridays / 10.30am - 11am

These sessions are completely free and there is no need to book - just turn up!


Family History Groups

Heritage - Archives - Family history - Museums - Culture

If you've ever been interested in delving back into the past, come along to one of our family history groups. You'll get help with your research and have access to some of the best family history resources available.

Lordshill Knitting Group Returns!

Arts - Crafts - culture - knitting

Whether you are an experienced knitter, crocheter, crafter or someone taking up any of these for the first time, our knitting and crafting groups have something for you. They provide an opportunity to make new friends with whom you share a common interest. Our members are always looking to help others when they run into difficulties with new projects and actively share patterns, ideas and materials.

Wendy Stokes Presents, John Arlott - Southampton Policeman and Poet

Portswood Library / Wednesday 10 April / 7.30pm / Free 

After twelve years service as a Southampton Policeman, John Arlott was an English journalist, author and cricket commentator for the BBC's Test Match Special. He was also a poet and wine connoisseur. With his poetic phraseology, he become an iconic cricket commentator noted for his "wonderful gift for evoking cricket moments".

Our quiz nights are always popular and we have two more coming up over the next month to test yourself at!

Woolston Library / Friday 5 April / 6.30pm - 9.30pm

Tickets available from staff at Woolston Library and cost £3 per person with a maximum of six people per team. Over 18s only.

Central Library / Thursday 25 April / 7.30pm - 10pm

Tickets available from Allison Kirby on 023 8083 3304 or email. and cost £3.50 per person with a maximum of 5 per team.
