Bring your bear for foster care

'Bring Your Bear for Foster Care' day raises over £600 for Southampton Foster Carers' Association

Southampton Foster Carers' Association were presented with donations totaling £617.17 this week following a fundraising effort from staff at Southampton City Council.

We hosted a ‘Bring Your Bear for Foster Care’ day where staff brought their childhood teddy bears in to work and donated to the Foster Carers' Association.

We also produced a short video to help raise awareness of the need to recruit more foster carers for Southampton children. The fun video has been viewed more than 20,000 times on social media. It features teams from waste and recycling, housing, adult social care, parks, highways and others taking a minute out of their day to sing the ‘Bare Necessities’ song in support of foster carers and looked after children.

Thousands turn out for Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day Parade

Thousands of spectators took to the streets of Southampton last Sunday for the city's first ever Armed Forces Day celebration. Military personnel, vehicles, veterans, cadet forces, re-enactors and marching bands paraded through the city centre finishing in Guildhall Square.

Southampton has a long military history and 2018 is the centenary year of the Royal Air Force and 100 years since the end of WW1.
