In January we unveiled exciting design images for our new Energy Centre. An Energy Centre design documentwas published on our website and shared directly with subscribers to this bulletin. We also wrote to residents at over 300 nearby properties to share our proposed designs.
Thank you to everyone who completed the accompanying survey and took the time to leave comments and feedback.
It was great to see the designs generate so much interest and we received some really interesting questions and comments about the project, the energy centre itself and our wider efforts to help decarbonise the borough.
The survey received 67 responses and many of you wanted to know more about the technology that will be used, the choice of location and the time scale for construction, as well as who will benefit from the energy it produces.
To help address some of these questions we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) which has been updated following our latest engagement. You can view the full list of FAQs on the Council’s website here.
In the meantime, work is continuing to prepare a planning application for the energy centre which we aim to submit within the next couple of weeks. We will update you again once the application has been submitted.
You can find out more about our plans for tackling climate change and our borough wide aspiration of reducing carbon emissions to Net Zero by 2041. Go to NetZeroSolihull.co.uk and find out how you can help shape our emerging Net Zero Action Plan.
