Funding secured for next stage of exciting Energy Network Scheme
You may remember that in March we submitted detailed funding applications to both the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and to the government’s Heat Network Investment Project (HNIP) in order to progress this exciting scheme.
Fantastic News! We learnt today that we have successfully secured the vital grant funding necessary to move on to the commercialisation and eventual construction phase of the project.
The funding, which will be released in phases, means that we can now start working with our technical specialists to identify and appoint a delivery partner to support the further design, construction, operation and maintenance of the network. It also means we can look to launch a pre-planning consultation soon and start gathering local views on the proposed Energy Centre design.
Emissions from heat currently account for approximately one third of Solihull’s total greenhouse gas emissions. Find out how his project will help us to deliver on our ambitious Net Zero goals for the borough and read more about today’s announcement here.
