Before your next library visit, be prepared, plan ahead and download the NHS COVID-19 app onto your phone.

Once you’ve downloaded the app at home, you can then check-in at your local library without the need to provide contact information, by simply scanning the official NHS QR posters which are located at the front of each library, either on the window or at the test and trace point in the entrance.

To check-in:

  1. Open the NHS COVID-19 app
  2. Select Venue Check In
  3. Hold your phone up to the QR code on the poster

When the app registers the code, you’ll see a tick and the name of the venue.

The NHS COVID-19 app has an in-built QR scanner which works specifically with the NHS QR posters, please be advised other QR scanners and your regular camera app will not work.

Once you’ve checked in, this data will be stored on your phone.

If it is later discovered that other people who were at the same library at the same time as you, have tested positive for coronavirus, you may get an alert with advice on what to do.

The Core Library Solihull and five other libraries are now open with safety measures in place.

 The community libraries open are:

Please note that you if are unable to or would prefer not to use the app, then you will be asked leave your contact details on a form, which will be held securely for 21 days.

You do not need to check out of the library. Your phone will register if and when you check-in to somewhere new that day, and it will automatically check you out of your last venue at midnight.

You can use the app to check-in to a number of other venues including bars, restaurants, hairdressers, places of worship and leisure centres across the borough.
