 Active Wellbeing Hub
Do you live in Solihull and have an existing health
condition or know someone who does?
Solihull Active have a range of physical activity programmes
that can help, including:
DocSpot - A 12 week physical activity
referral programme available to Solihull residents over the age of 16, who are
inactive and have an existing health condition. This programme offers a range
of physical activities to choose from with plenty of support and guidance from
fully qualified exercise professionals at 4 local venues. To join please ask
your GP or practice nurse for a written referral form.
Cardiac Rehab (NEW for 2016) - These
group exercise classes involve a gentle exercise circuit, specifically designed
for people who have heart disease or have had a previous cardiac event. You can
expect a fun and friendly atmosphere, qualified BACPR exercise instructors and
plenty of support and advice. These classes start on Tuesday 5 January 2016
and will run every Tuesday 11.30am-12.30pm at North Solihull Sports Centre. To
join please ask your hospital rehab team or GP for a written referral.
Cancer
Rehabilitation - A 12 week programme of
specialist group exercise classes available to individuals who have had cancer,
available at 2 local venues. These provide a safe and effective
opportunity for cancer survivors to get back into and benefit from physical
activity. To join please ask your GP or practice nurse for a written referral
form.
Multiple
Sclerosis/Parkinson’s Exercise Classes - Weekly
group exercise classes at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre designed specifically to
benefit people with Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson’s Disease. To join please
contact the leisure centre on 0121 705 6371.

 Eat Well Move More
The Eat Well Move More team have been busy in schools, in the autumn term they completed two school programmes at Castle Bromwich School and Windy Arbor School. Windy Arbor had a special visit from the Mayor Glenis Slater and Ian Mather (Consultant in Public Health). The children really enjoyed having two special visitors taking part in their session.
The Eat Well Move team are starting at two new schools in the second week of January - Smiths Wood Primary Academy and Marston Green Infant Academy. The team are really looking forward to working with these schools.
The Eat Well Move More team held a session at CTC Kingshurst Academy for all participants who have completed or are attending the 7-11 years sessions. The group made pitta pizzas and then went out to have lots of fun on the outdoor adventure area.

 Eat Well Move More Roadshows
Eat Well Move More staff have been carrying out road shows in Bosworth Community Centre, Central Library and Chelmsley Wood Libraries during September to December. Eat Well Move More staff enjoyed interacting with the public and encouraging the public to make healthy choices.

 2016 Step Into Solihull programme now available
The Step Into Solihull programme for the first quarter of 2016 is now available.
The programme promotes organised activities across Solihull Council for older people including walking, tai chi, dance, extend (gentle exercise to music) and much more.
Our programme includes new walks at Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull, Hampton-in-Arden and Hob’s Moat Library.

2016 activities for people with disabilities leaflet now available
The activities for people with disabilities programme for the first quarter of 2016 is now available.
The programme promotes organised activities across Solihull Council for people living with disabilities including cycling, archery, swimming and much more. The booklet containing dates and details of all activities can be found here.
Inclusive coaching: disability
You can open the door to sport for everyone. Improve your ability to coach sport for disabled people by becoming a more inclusive coach. Gain the knowledge and skills that will enhance your current coaching skills.
Training takes place on Friday 5 February, 6.30-9.30pm at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre. Book your place online

 Solihull Girls Can
Solihull Girls Can is a project aiming to increase women’s participation in sport and physical activity, asf ear of judgment is stopping many women from taking part.
Solihull Girls Can is a celebration of active women in Solihull who are doing their thing no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how red their face gets.
New activities for the New Year include social netball and rounders in the spring. Watch this space
