There may be an Indian summer forecast for this month but there
are plenty of autumnal treats and Halloween tricks in store this October!
Gourmets will take ghoulish delight in the various
markets and food festivals taking place in the town centre. The
monthly Farmer's Market (Friday 2
October, High Street, 9.00am - 5.00pm) offers the best of locally sourced
produce from within a 30 mile radius of Solihull. The Big Taste,
organised by Solihull BID, returns to Solihull on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4
October, offering a feast of foodie stalls and activities provided by local
restaurants and retailers (more information is available here). Finally, this month's Fine and Local Food Fayre (Saturday
17 October, Mell Square and Mill Lane, 9.00am - 5.00pm) will combine tempting
treats from home and abroad with arts and crafts by local artists.
Later in the month, there are various tricks and treats in store
to guarantee children a haunting half term! Firstly, Wicked Workshop and Terror Trail (Wednesday
28 October, Elmdon Park, 11.00am - 1.00pm), offers brave young visitors
the chance to find spooky clues around the park, take part in a creepy craft
activity and win a prize for the best Halloween fancy dress.
Then, Haunting
Halloween returns to Brueton Park on Saturday 31 October.
Wear your most frightening fancy dress to take a ghostly guided walk around the
park (walks take place at 5.30pm; 5.50pm; 6.10pm; 6.30pm and 6.50pm - places
are limited so contact 0121 704 8000 to book your place and buy tickets); meet
Smelly Nelly the witch and lots of other things that go bump in the night along
the way and finish with a Halloween themed craft activity at the Parkridge
Centre.
Treat
yourself to some indulgent gourmet treats or some Halloween fun in Solihull
this October!
