The Specialist Outreach Pilot is now available to request.
Funded through the SEND and AP Change Programme, outreach is free of charge for the duration of the pilot this academic year.
The overall aim of the pilot is to build capacity of schools to meet the needs of children with complex SEND needs within their mainstream setting. For this pilot year, the Specialist Outreach offer is open to pupils from Reception to Y11.
Full details and the link to the request form are available on the Inclusive Practice section of the SLG: Specialist Outreach | Shropshire Learning Gateway

As shared at last week’s Headteacher briefings, the new Primary Inclusion Development Grant is now launching.
Schools, trusts, federations and networks of Infant, Junior and Primary Schools are invited to submit proposals for funding. Funding will be provided from SEND and AP Change Programme and the High Needs Block and will be provided for two years. You must include a business case in your application to cover revenue costs.
You may also request additional funding from the High Needs Capital Allocation to create inclusive spaces that support students with additional needs.
Full details and the request form are available on the Inclusive Practice section of the SLG: Primary Inclusion Development Grant | Shropshire Learning Gateway

Dear Colleagues,
It seems the 'piano scam' email is doing the rounds again. It basically consists of an email being sent by a plausible sounding person offering a piano to a school or institution. The reason for wanting to get rid of the instrument is usually a death in the family. There are no phishing links in the email but often images are attached. A sure way to tell if this is a scam is that the images are usually saved as .webp format (meaning they've been grabbed from the web.)
I know at least one school has had this in the past few days, we've also had it in the past. I was getting them all the time in my previous role.
Please be vigilant.
Thanks, Sarah

Shropshire Council would like to invite schools to participate in the “Shropshire Speaks Up” campaign, which we created in support of White Ribbon Day 2025.
White Ribbon Day, observed annually on 25th November, is a day dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging action to help end men’s violence against women and girls. As part of our White Ribbon Day 2025 campaign, we’re encouraging everyone across Shropshire to take part in or support the following community-focused activities:
-
‘Shropshire Speaks up’ Community Walk: Organise local walks in your towns or village in Shropshire to show support for ending violence against women and girls on White Ribbon Day
-
‘Shropshire lights up’: Consider whether buildings and landmarks across your area can be lit up in white to show solidarity with the campaign.
-
Video campaign: Schools across Shropshire are invited to record short video messages of support for White Ribbon.
How to Participate:
Please see the “Shropshire Speaks Up” campaign post which includes instructions for participation, including lighting buildings, coordinating walks, and contributing video messages. If you join in, please ensure you complete the participation form so we can celebrate your involvement.
Schools also have access to age-appropriate resources for White Ribbon Day, including lesson plans, assembly ideas, and activities for Key Stages 1–5 to support RSHE and promote respectful relationships. To access please see the White Ribbon children and young people page here.
If you have any questions, please contact our White Ribbon Accreditation Lead, Charlotte Howell, at sc.wr@shropshire.gov.uk

We’re pleased to announce three community grants for local organisations delivering vital support. One grant has been awarded to PEGS (Parental Education Growth Support) for a new training programme on Child to Parent Abuse (CPA)—a complex and often under-recognised form of domestic abuse. Find out more about PEGS on their website.
PEGS research shows parents often first reach out to professionals in education, health, and social care, making it essential that frontline staff can recognise and respond effectively. This funding enables PEGS to deliver training sessions for professionals—a key step in ensuring families receive informed, compassionate support.
Understanding CPA can make a real difference in safeguarding families. PEGS are offering both in-person and online sessions. If you or your team work directly with families, we strongly encourage you to attend.
Please see the attached poster for details.
