The UKSPF Small Business Grant Scheme is still open and would like to encourage more businesses to apply before the scheme ends.
Grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 are available to purchase new equipment or make improvements to business premises.
The grant was made possible because of the £15m worth of funding awarded to Shropshire Council for a range of projects through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in 2022. This funding round will end in March 2025.

Shrewsbury has been named the winner of the Great Small Town 2024 in The Academy of Urbanism (AoU) Awards?
Each town is assessed on various aspects including commercial success and viability so the judges spoke to the Shropshire Growth Hub team earlier this year to find out how we support local businesses and to hear about some of our business success stories.

The advertising regulator, Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP), has published guidance to help marketers make sure their ads are clear and transparent about what’s on offer, in the run-up to the ‘Black Friday’ consumer event on 29 November.
For example, it sets out the rules about any savings claims, e.g., “70% off”, “Save £50”, etc., which CAP says must be genuine, accurate and must not exaggerate the saving that could be made.
With many seasonal jobs available at this time of year, employers must prioritise the health and safety of gig economy, agency and temporary workers.
Workers are as likely to experience an accident in the first 6 months at a workplace as they are over the rest of their working life. HSE's website has guidance on 6 ways to protect those who are new to the job.
We also have advice to help users and suppliers of agency and temporary workers understand their health and safety responsibilities.
If you are an agency or temporary worker, the law safeguards your health and safety and employment businesses (agencies) must ensure they follow health and safety requirements for every agency or temporary worker.

Work alone? Help is at hand to keep you safe while you're working remotely.
Lone workers are at greater risk of harm at work as they may not have anyone to help or support them if things go wrong.
Fortunately, the Health and Safety Executive has produced a leaflet and video providing advice and tips for anyone working alone or employers that have staff working remotely.

Shropshire Council Leader Lezley Picton has asked Shropshire businesses to express their views about a proposed M54/M6 link road.
Midlands Connect, an organisation responsible for researching, developing and progressing transport projects to benefit the Midlands region, is looking to engage with Shropshire companies.
The new government has outlined ambitions to unlock key economic growth corridors, and Midlands Connect wants to build a strong case for it to invest in the M54/M6 northbound link.
They would like to speak to organisations and companies that use this route to understand how it impacts their business operations, and how investment in the proposed link road would support their businesses to grow or operate more efficiently.
