The Friday Hub - 5th May

Picture of Johnny Themans on Zoom surrounded by faces

The Friday Hub is Shropshire’s biggest, regular, FREE, business networking event. Every Friday 9.15-10.15am

Design by Committee

In the Friday Hub this week, we're going to look at how to design and refine what you do as a business to best meet your customer needs. One of the problems many of us experience in business is "too much received opinion".

Whilst we must welcome and encourage feedback, it takes discipline to filter and translate what you are hearing and it helps to have a strategy to ensure you build what you want rather than creating someone else’s dream or someone else’s version of what they think your dream should be. We'll explore the techniques for getting great feedback to fuel creativity as well as the virtues of the "committee of one!" As they say, the camel is actually a horse designed by a committee...

These themes will be valuable whatever stage you are at with your business.

You can register here if you've not before https://bit.ly/G2G1FriHub

There are plenty of opportunities to meet others and discover the power of sharing and solving together - this is a gentle and light-hearted yet business focussed group where you can be sure to finish your week on a high…

“Good things happen when you bring good people together”

You can hear Johnny explaining what the Friday Hub is all about here: https://vimeo.com/734666973/437b29363c

Innovation Funding for SMEs - 10th May

Come along to discover how you can be financially supported with innovation and developments happening in your organisation. Catax will share how you could claim Research & Development Tax Credits (R&D tax relief) for your business, and will update on the changes occurring in April 2023.

R&D tax relief is awarded to businesses that invest in innovation. This innovation can be in the form of developing new systems, processes, products, materials, devices, or any changes to the way your business works. The chances are your business is doing R&D without even realising – it’s not just for people in white lab coats!

Catax can also support with grant funding, which may be needed pre innovation. Any business investing time and resources into innovative R&D in the UK has the ability to apply for and access UK/EU grant funding. This can be a time consuming process so Catax speed up the process of identifying and applying for the correct grants.

This is an opportunity to hear from both the experts and people who have claimed tax relief. You will have the chance to ask questions specific to your organisation. There will also be an opportunity to speak to the CREST team about free expert and academic support for developing new products or services in your business.
