Stress Awareness Month has been held every April since 1992 to raise awareness of the causes and cures for our modern-day stress epidemic. It is the time when we have an opportunity for
- an open conversation on the impact of stress
- dedicated time to removing the guilt, shame, and stigma around mental health
- to talk about stress, and its effects and open up about our mental and emotional state with friends, families, colleagues, and professionals.

As the LGBT history month of February 2023 ended, around 360 participants attended the launch of the ground-breaking Skills for Care commissioned Framework for:
(LGBTQ+) Care in Later Life, A Learning Framework for knowledge, skills and values for working affirmatively with LGBTQ+ people in later life.
One of the framework’s contributors stated, ‘This resource meets a critical gap in providing evidence, information, advice, and tools to support the social care workforce to develop their knowledge, skills, values to improve how they work with LGBTQ+ people in later life.’
This resource is for employers, employees, social care employers, social care employees, trainers and educators, people who draw on care and support, carers service commissioners, regulators of social care, voluntary, private and independent care providers sector and many more
The framework promotes attitude change, affirmative values and inspires personalisation for those working within social care. At the launch event we heard from inspirational contributors and community volunteers that informed and supported the co-production of the framework.
Joint Training and the wider council are now working towards how this resource can be used as broadly as possible. Watch this space for further information!
