The event is FREE to attend and provides an opportunity to network, exchange ideas, information and learn new skills.
Tuesday 29th September, 6-8pm
MediaActive Projects : Adventures with Archives, using archive film creatively with children and young people.
Using the Hidden Treasures of local, regional and international film archives MediaActive Projects has, over many years, worked with children and young people on award winning film productions, cross artform events and visual arts exhibitions. Our current BFI funded programme brings together archive film content and new music/spoken word for event based screenings, exhibition install and cinema.
The Cafe will present an opportunity to enjoy some examples of archive film based work made by children and young people, in and out of the classroom, and hear about opportunities to access, exhibit or work with Adventures in Archives content and programme.
The processes of research, curation, production and exhibition and sharing all involve digital aspects (supporting digital competency and inclusion) and the use of archive film has particular pertinence to museums, galleries, libraries, schools, colleges and festivals and artists working with children and young people.
No experience is needed within digital practice, although by that point I’m sure you will have quite a bit!

#GetCreativeAtHome?
Instead of promoting local creative events where people come together, Voluntary Arts England are using the #GetCreativeAtHome campaign to highlight and promote the amazing participatory creative activities that are being developed to help people to express themselves creatively during a time of unprecedented change.
Instead of confining the campaign to 10 days in May, we have opened up the festival to make activities accessible now, when people need them most.
We are encouraging individuals, groups and organisations large and small to create, curate or signpost great accessible remote activities by listing them on the Get Creative website. Our partners across the sector, including ACE and BBC Arts, will be helping to promote Get Creative activities to a broad audience throughout the coming weeks and months. If you have already started delivering creative activities remotely and would welcome new participants from across the country, do register your activities on the Get Creative website alongside your existing online promotion.
Register your activities at: www.GetCreativeUK.com

Chancellor Announces 100% Government-backed Loans for Small Businesses
The new Bounce Back Loans scheme, announced by the Chancellor, will allow small and medium businesses to borrow between £2,000 and £50,000 and access the cash within days. Loans will be interest free for the first 12 months, and businesses will be able to apply online through a short and simple form.
Firms will be able to access these loans through a network of accredited lenders. The Government will work with lenders to ensure loans delivered through the scheme are advanced as quickly as possible and agree a low standardised level of interest for the remaining period of the loan.
Businesses can apply for a loan if they:
- Are based in the UK.
- Have been negatively affected by coronavirus (COVID-19).
- Were not an ‘undertaking in difficulty’ on 31 December 2019.
Rishi Sunak said the scheme will help bolster the existing package of support available to the smallest businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic. It will run alongside the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) and Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CLBILS).
The Chancellor said:
'Our smallest businesses are the backbone of our economy and play a vital role in their communities.
'This new rapid loan scheme will help ensure they get the finance they need quickly to help survive this crisis.
'This is in addition to business grants, tax deferrals, and the job retention scheme, which are already helping to support hundreds of thousands of small businesses.'
The scheme will launch for applications on Monday 4 May 2020.
