We are delighted to announce the appointment of two new Learning Development Officers.
James Hudson is already a well known and very popular member of the Joint Training team having been a MAPA trainer since 2015. James was recently successful in securing the part-time post of Learning Development Officer for Adult Learning Disabilities (ALD). He brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role, having been a registered manager in services for children with learning disabilities in the past. The future for James is looking very busy as he takes up the dual role of MAPA trainer / Learning Development Officer for ALD - we have every confidence that he will rise to his new role admirably!
The second appointment is our new Learning Development Officer, Claire Leehouwers, who will take up post in early June. We are very much looking forward to Claire joining the team and will be letting you know all about her new projects in our next issue!
We are pleased to announce that we are now able to offer the following courses:

It is aimed at anyone who wants to improve their knowledge, including those who support others in distress or who may be experiencing mental health issues. On completion participants will receive an MHFA manual, a workbook including a toolkit to support their own mental health and a certificate of attendance.
Mental Health First Aid (2 day course) this course gives the skills required to help someone experiencing a mental health problem before professional help is obtained. The course is aimed at those working in Adult Statutory Services, the voluntary and independent sectors, family carers and service users. On completion participants will receive a certificate of attendance from Mental Health First Aid and a manual which covers all aspects of the course.
The courses are delivered by Jade Matravers and Vicky Dudley, Learning Development Officers, who are both Approved MHFA England trainers.

Aimed at individuals who work with or have contact with adults, families or children, the briefing provides an alternative to the full day Domestic Abuse Awareness course which covers the topic in greater detail and is aimed at those working with vulnerable individuals and in children's services.
