Are you new to Early
Help and would like to know more about how Early Help works in Shropshire?
Whether you are in
a school, an early years setting, in health, social care or the voluntary
sector, if your work involves children and their families, the new Early Help
training will support you to see the benefits of partnership working and early
help.
Early help covers a
wide range of universal and targeted services, with workers in a position to
identify and support families and children who may be experiencing some low
level challenges and who would benefit from some support. The purpose of early
help is to improve the life chances of children and families and benefit the
wider community, whilst being innovative and cost-effective.
In Shropshire, early
help focuses on from conception to early adulthood, because early help is not
just about the early years but also about preventing adolescents and young
adults from developing problems. We want every family to develop a cycle of
positive parenting, relationships and behaviour. Early help is about taking
action as soon as possible to tackle problems for children and families before
they become more difficult to reverse.
Early help also
focuses on enhancing the capabilities of every parent to provide a supportive
and enriching environment for their children.
Research* shows
that effective early help can improve outcomes for children in a number of
areas. These include:
- improved school attendance
- reduced short-term school exclusions
- reduced inappropriate sexualised
behaviour
- reduced isolation
- improved presentation
- immunisations being up to date where
they had been absent previously
- improved progress in meeting
developmental milestones
- academic improvements
- improved housing and home conditions
- care arrangements stabilising
- improved speech and language
New Early Help
training modules have been developed and include:
- The Role of the Lead Professional
- Capturing the Voice of the Child and
Family
- Assessment and Analysis Skills
- SMART Action Planning
- Information Sharing and Consent
These sessions are
a half day and are open to delegates from a wide range of organisations,
allowing for multi-agency discussion and learning to take place.
Full details on any
of the above training modules and ECINS training sessions can be viewed from
the SSCB Multi-agency Safeguarding Training Schedule via the link from the Shropshire
Safeguarding Shropshire’s Children Board (SSCB) webpage SSCB website. All learners will need to REGISTER and

Practitioners. Each area is then be broken down further to make it easy to find
the relevant information.
The three key features remain the
same:
- Events
Calendar – also accessing the Shropshire Council calendar.
- Service
Directory – linking with the FIS directory bringing universal and specialist
services together with improved search features.
- Information
Pages –will have improved navigation for ease of use.

brought us an opportunity to take your feedback and comments alongside data
gathered from multiple sources to make some significant improvements to the
website. The existing web links will continue to work with a redirect for a
