From Thales to
Socrates - the origins of Greek philosophy with Martin Thorpe
Like most
philosophers, the Greeks raised more
questions than they provided answers: e.g what is the world made from? How did
it start? Will it end? What keeps it going? Is it planned or just a matter of
chance? How do we know the answer to any of these questions? No previous knowledge
of Greek or of philosophy is expected, only an interest in the topic and in
discussing the issues as they arise.
When: Tuesdays starting 13 September 2016 for 10 weeks (no session on 11 or 18 October)
Time: 2pm -.3.30pm
